About me

My name is Stephen Winston. I'm originally from Downers Grove, IL (a suburb of Chicago), but I've lived in NYC for a while now. I enjoy listening to music, doing nerdy things, and hanging out with my family. I have blue eyes, two dimples, and my wrists are double jointed. Oh, e yo hablo español.

I've worked on just about everything - TV, print radio, websites, banner ads, Flash games (when that was a thing), Facebook apps, mobile apps, social posts, experiential stuff, and so forth. You won't find it all on my site, so if you're saying to yourself, "I wonder if he's done...", just shoot me an email.

I am addicted to problem solving and conceptual thinking - and I do it ALL THE TIME. Everything from coming up with ways to save the public education system and silly food truck ideas to experimental short films and an online calculator that uses flatulating bovine as a term of measurement for carbon footprints (I call it CowFart Footprint...get it?).

I also sculpt adorable pipecleaner animals.

Holler if you have any questions.

American Red Cross

I had the privilege of working on the 2017 holiday season commercial for the American Red Cross.

The spot served as a humble reminder during the “most wonderful time of the year.”

AT&T

---

AT&T is one of only a handful of sponsors of the Masters Golf Tournament. Which means every year they're able to show the world who they are in a big way. This campaign started as B2B only, but the CEO fell in love with it and it quickly became the brand mantra.

Castrol wanted to launch their new, advanced synthetic oil during the Big Game.
We presented a couple ways in.
They bought both.

#9 on the USA Today AdMeter

Although this didn't air during the Super Bowl, it DID air during the pre-game show and made it on a few top 10 lists.

What better way to introduce Tropicana Probiotics than with a little Zarathustra and an equally epic bedhead.

While the world was making fun of Gary Johnson's interview snafu, I got busy trying to turn it into an opportunity to raise money to those affected. So I created a simple website that linked out to a UN charity.

Sox Fans 4 Cubs

Sox fans and Cub fans are like water and vinegar. Well...often more like nitro and glycerin. So I used Facebook to dabble in trolling. And, ultimately ate crow.

Using Facebook's OpenGraph, the meta data for the site looks appeared like this (showing controversial support for both sides)

When clicked, fans were greeted with the message above.

Over 50K people took the bait. Most were Cub fans.

Go Sox.

Delta

---

Delta Nonstop NYC was a six-week, kitchen-sink, digital promotion for Delta Air Lines that included physical scavenger hunts, mobile check-ins, custom games, a photo contest, a food truck, a private concert with F.U.N. in LA, and a bunch of other stuff.

The highlight of the promotion was Find the Red Coat, where we hid a real-life Delta Red Coat customer service representative somewhere in NYC and invited New Yorkers to follow the clues to find her.

Mets

In an effort to get New Yorkers to TAKE THE TRAIN TO THE GAME, we placed these posters at LIRR stations around the city.

Though the missing items were fake, the phone numbers were real. Fans who called the number got the real message...in an unexpected way.

It even got a little press.

The Real Mother Goose

This is a legit hardcover book I created for a local art show. It was a pain in the butt to put together, but totally worth it.
